Evening Hearlds Michael O'Doherty gets a taste of 'blayney Humble by in the Glencarn Hotel. 
In an article in the Evening Hearld Journalist Mr Michael O’Doherty referred to the people of the town who have broke two world records as “cretins” and suggested that Castleblayney was “the notorious Monaghan hole.”
The town was awarded a Guinness World Record for having 905 people dressed up as Flintstones in the one place at the one time as part of the Muckno Mania Festival.
Along with several representatives from the Evening Hearld Mr Michael O'Doherty was taken on an extensive tour of Castleblayney, sites included the Glencarn Hotel, GR8 Entertainment, Concra Wood Golf Club, and a Tour of Lough Muckno.
Mr. O'Doherty was then interviewed on Northern Sound Radio where he said that they people of Castleblayney were very nice to him despite his article. He said that he had only passed through Castleblayney on route to Derry many years ago.
Monaghan Sub Aqua Club members were delighted to Take Mr. O'Doherty and his colleagues on a full tour of Lough Muckno.
On board were representatives from Castleblayney Town Council. We were delighted to offer them a top class journey taking them in our large boat from the Pontoons on Gas Lake and under the bridge and into Lough Muckno. This weekend is the first time this has ever been attempted with our large boat. Well done Frank and Thomas for the brain-wave!!!
